I'm new here and I wanted to see what anime everyone is watching. I've been watching darling in the franxx, black clover and I just recently finished little witch academia.

@Fluid_XL this is probably a duplicate thread but i can't be bothered finding out... so i'll post anyways :)

I'm currently watching the new episodes of Boruto and One Piece each week as they come out (Both are up to pretty epic points in the arc and story as a whole). Also occasionally watching Lucky Star and just started watching Hitman Reborn~! Made in Abyss is at the top of my 'On Hold' list. ^_^ good on you for making a thread

I made a thread specifically for Boruto discussion when you're up to date :D

How far did you get through One Piece?? I'm just about to watch the new episode (#827) woop woop~! the story is amazing in this arc ' _ ' <3

by the way @Fluid_XL to make a subpost/comment it's as simple as clicking the date above a specific post in any thread ^_^

Yeah, this is one I need to watch at some point as well. Probably after this semester ends, have my hands full with seasonal anime right now. xP

Dude. Kekkai Sensei is one of the best anime I've seen in my life, both seasons. If you like it enough you should buy the manga, it's only 10 volumes. It's worth it in my opinion.

    This season, I'm watching:

    Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai

    Karakai Jouzo no Takagi-san

    Yuru Camp

    How to Keep a Mummy

    Hakata Tonkatsu Ramens.

I also plan to catch up on Uchuu Yori mo Tooi Bashi, Slow Start, Marchen Madchen, and After The Rain, if I can manage to between bouts of studying. xP

It's very good so far. I don't like rating things on a scale before I finish them. But that and Yuru Camp are probably my favorites this season.

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho is so far the best Anime of 2018.

Citrus is as bitter as it was reading the manga, though the manga's got it beat by default because of how it is ending up right now.

Yuru Camp is the feel good anime of the season, exceptionally relaxing.

Death March is pretty damn nondescript, generic and plain. I don't know why I'm watching it outside of there being nothing inherently offensive about it beyond how simplistic it is. None of the characters actually stands out, and the harem of slaves grows so quickly, I usually forget about one or two characters until they appear again. It is extremely contrived and nothing much is happening, and even the current Undead King arc is being approached as overly mundane to the point where it lacks any sort of excitement. The most positive thing I can say about it is that it doesn't offend by mere existence.

Kokkoku meanwhile is amazing and caught my attention from episode one. It moves at a steady pace, has surprisingly relatable characters despite being about timey whimey bullshit. And that opening really hits it out of the park. Even what, 9 episodes in, you still notice subtle foreshadowing in the OP, whereas most other shows outright spoil twists in theirs. Great, suspenseful show. A surprise hit.

Darling in the Franxx is surprisingly good so far too. The premise is ridiculous, the technology is too, the Kaiju are somewhat disappointing in their presentation, but the characters are nice (though Ichigo deserves a slap or three) and the pacing's good. The art is straddling the line between familiar and surprisingly crisp and fresh, and Zero Two is refreshingly unconventional.

Beatless? Eh, I'm watching it, but the pacing feels off. While I enjoy the world building, a bunch of it feels out of focus, with the more intricate bits being addressed in passing so they're easy to miss, while on the front it spends almost an entire episode setting up a modeling career. But I do like Kouka due to her fire and general attitude. Lacia feels too fake for me to judge yet, expecting big twists down the line. At least now there appears to be some more promise with Methode on the scene and some corporate-corruption-level plot going on...

Violet Evergarden is my trainwreck of the season. Not because it is bad, but because it consistently maintains its bittersweet tone. Nothing every ends up happy, there's always the looming grim reality of things. Yes, something may end up nicely for a character in one area, but another will be pretty fucked anyway. But damn me is it beautiful to watch.

Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is what caught me off guard the most. I'd been curious about it two seasons ago already when the first teasers appeared and I was updating my archive in advance, but after episode one (which I enjoyed), I wasn't sure if the concept would last the whole season. I figured it'd been a mistake to not have this fill a short slot instead of a full 24 minute episode slot. Now 8 episodes have passed and I wish they were longer. The chemistry between Nishikata and Takagi is palpable, and Nishikata is the only one who doesn't seem to realize what's going on. Takagi is consistently amazing in all the best ways. She never gets abusive with her teasing, which stays true to the middle school setting. It's all in good spirits, and often self-inflicted. Takagi also never actually strings him along too far, her teasing never crosses a line. Frankly, she's also adorable in her own way and Nishikata's lucky for eventually getting to marry her (according to a spin-off manga). Through everything she does to the boy, you never feel like she isn't being considerate or outright malicious.

Dagashi Kashi 2 is my main disappointment this season. From being turned into a half-episode show over studio/art changes to Hotaru being absent for 3 episodes already, a stand-in rival appearing and STILL NOT GETTING ENOUGH SAYA ANYWAY?!, the show's been lackluster. Nevermind that it's been barely about dagashi. Heck, episode 6 was literally just about a convenience store opening and the manager trying to recruit Coconuts.

Also, Hugtto! Precure is back to the franchise's top form. Finally a great season again which has already been more thoughtful the past 4 episodes than Happiness Charge and KiraKira combined...

Agreed, regarding Death March (and on most other counts as well). It's not bad, but there isn't really anything that sticks out about it. I'm watching it but I'm not really sure why. I guess it's because it's a different genre from most of the anime this season, and I like variety.

I'm 2 episodes into Tooi Basho, will try to catch up this weekend if I have the time.

    Currently watching:

    • Ancient Magus Bride - Continued from the last season. Really enjoying this beautiful anime. Fairies and mages everywhere. Also, oddly accurate details on some of the backgrounds of British things (although they have crazy combos of food).
    • Darling in the Franxx - Was excited by this cos of A1 and Trigger. Fun so far. Really want to know more about the world setting. Hormones meet mecha?
    • Recovery of an MMO Junkie - From last(?) season. This is a great geeky romance.
    • Overlord - This is brilliant! Caught up on season 1 and fell in love with it's silliness. Season 2 is focusing on the wider world and so much fun for it.

Also, have Kokkoru and Violet Evergarden on my reserve list. Started a few episodes of Violet Evergarden but wasn't in the mood for such slow development.

Tried Black Clover but it was too awful. Just really lazy shite.

Also, just watched Voltron and Devilman Crybaby on Netflix. Really good watches both.
