zetsubou sensei's famous in my community. As well as Hijime no Ippo. I love it. Time of Eve is already owned my funimation, and posted freely on youtube, so you can say it's pretty known.

Yeah, saying Zetsubou Sensei isn't recognized is a huge stretch. However, at my local anime con, not a SINGLE PERSON bought the "Zetsuboushita!" shirt our stand was selling (I worked for a guy one year). I'm really glad to see people watching Ippo and Time of Eve, and that they're well known too.

To be honest, I don't know much obscure anime. I just know anime I can't seem to find people to discuss with.

even some relatively recent anime ended up rather unrecognized, either due to confusing timeskips, bad or confusing timeskips or the like. for example, [C]; of course its not like it was THAT unknown, btu still, it was dropped by a really high number of people and rarely ever spoken of again.... i guess the one thing most remembering of it now is hat one circle/doujinauthor that keeps it in our memory by beeing obsessed by Q and drawing many, many doujins of her. (still not as many as he/she drew of oshino shinobu, though, but still. it seems he/she is shifting. also its of course possible that he only keeps it in the memory of fellow Q-fans like me.)

as of late i have only met one other person how has watched ghost in the shell so.....

@si350 that is..quite concerning, considering how Ghost in the Shell is one of the most famous non-children anime from that time.. maybe you just only aksed people who were too youn too watch it when it was running?

Mushishi is definitely one of the most quality shows I've ever seen. It's about a dude who deals with things that straddle the line between living and non-living. The atmosphere is really chill and the stories have a lot of variety.

So yeah, all the mainstream stuff keeps getting mentioned...
