you already know that I'm definitely in on this. B)

we could make comics about things us CL members do together or talk about!

I would like to participate! It's my first attempt at 4-koma, but this sounds interesting, so I'll give it a go.

I'm more of a writer than an artist, but this looks fun. My participation will depend on what the theme is though. Any ideas for the theme yet? :)

Sorry to say that I don't have a particular theme in mind, so I may not be of much help. However, something light-hearted will probably be good, like the amusement park.

Hmmmm... do I smell a CL manga? The one thing that failed pretty much every time we tried it?

Actually, no. Making this into something similar to our writing projects is a good idea. Because before we tried to make some single big-ass thing, many people joined, noone really did anything and we had no work distribution. But making a theme and making single artists or writer/artists teams work on it on 4-panel format? Yeah, that actually can work.

The one downside I see here is that people who can't draw can't join, but well, that's a drawing project... Yes, I know, writer can join with an artist, but 4-panel format is easy enough, so you don't really need a writer even if you aren't that creative yourself, and writers would have to actively seek artists to join. An artist who would announce that he needs a writer would get swamped with proposals, I feel.

I'd say, you should test this on a few neutral themes, but if this would go well, you can try making 4-panels about something CL-related. Maybe we then finally get something resembling the goddam CL manga. Would be an achievement.

This isn't a contest though. People need not be pressured to draw well to be able to participate. One could probably come up with a comic featuring stick figures but as long as it is funny, it wouldn't matter.

As for a theme, this is simply a suggestion, but how about a 4-panel strip of a humorous event/conversation that you've experienced in real life? Kind of like greentext stories on 4chan, only in comic form. I'm not really too keen on making and setting up my own joke for a comic, since I'm just not a very funny person to begin with, so it would be easier that way to derive the comic idea from a real life exchange.

I kind of do like the idea of something CL-related as well though.

Alright, more ideas are rolling in! Keep them coming, m'dears!

In a day or two, I'll start the theme poll!

Hopefully, by then, we'll also have some more members participating.

And yes, funny stick figures are okay. As long as you make them nice and neat- make them look like you tried.

    Die PUNY HUMANS!!!

Lovely. In character, with a hilarious element.

Although I can't take part on the account of my drawing skills being god awful I would offer a suggestion as already pointed in in one of the other posts that you make the artists base their 4 panel manga on conversations on chat.

All this made me remember our fail CL manga attempt number 3... I signed up as a writer there, and even did I 4-panel... well, not really 4-panel, more like a screenplay thing for artists to make nice-looking proper 4-panel manga from. Naturally, since project failed, noone really drew anything about anything, but hey, I still have this crappy made-in-10-minutes thing on my PC. This one was about our more annoying and generally disliked user at the time - burn.

For this type of project it would be better if there wasn't a theme. This kind of short manga skit is already a theme in itself, namely gag/comedy manga.

  12. #684952014-01-14 09:34:55Kirn said:

Well, having a theme or not having one won't affect the process much on general... I mean, if you would have a theme, some people would have easier time deciding on a script... then again, without a theme, people would have less limitation and can be more creative. So, no good or bad choice here.

I am not sure why you need participants to write PM, but I would say that for this there shouldn't be a fixed list of participants. I mean, sure, if some people would state that they would write something - that would be nice, naturally. But this should be open with no fixed list, cause some people may decide to join while it would be in process... plus, as I said, writers would have to spend time searching for a willing artist, so even if they would write to you now, they won't be able to guarantee they would find someone to pair up with...

Minor point, now that I think about it - make sure to remind people on the actual project then, when you would have one, that they can use it to look for people to cooperate with. Well, that's pretty self-obvious, really, though.

You may also want to think about the finished product. Like, okay, you start this thing, you set a deadline, you get to a deadline... and then what? In choruses, in the end we have a finished video. In contests we have a voting of sorts and the winner. In DC's writing thingies we have a book for everyone to download. Now, here, obviously, the process and the 4-panels we would get are the main point, but if you want, you may want to think about making something with the finished results. Again, no bad choice here - if you would want to do this, just pick whatever you want.

The PM thing is mostly to help me mentally organize stuff- I'm admittedly a little bit slow with certain things, so I've learned ways to help myself out in certain aspects.

As for the final product? It's pretty much going to emulate the writing anthologies in format.

    and also, just some minor drawing mistakes haha. they aren't too noticeable, but they stand out to me. xD;;

Mm, don't worry about them. I like DC's hair, too, by the way. Maybe everyone will portray DC with long hair from now on!

Well, since my poll doesn't want to post, just post your final theme votes below. Sorry for the slow updates these past few days, but I've had spotty internet.

    The Choices are:

    A: CL-Related

    B. Non- CL Slice of LIfe

    C. Comedy

    D. Some combination of the previously mentioned

    E. No set theme

  17. #686982014-01-18 08:11:33Kirn said:

While we already have some CL-related 4-panels now, I would also propose E. (Not vote, cause I will probably not participate) Having no theme would let you see how well it would go with no limitations, and you would be able to add some limitations or themes knowingly next time. Plus, E allows for everything, so they could draw CL stuff too anyways.

    I vote C
I think that would just mean to make all the 4-koma funny right? We could probably make it Cl related or whatever as long as it's funny.
Also I think we should have at least some organization instead of being themeless, because than what would be the point in grouping together for this
