I know the first season got a lot of positive feedbacks from the audience, even though to be honest I am puzzled why exactly, so I tried to bring myself watch the season two, because as far as I know (and seen), this 2nd season is not SAO at all, it's all so far shows only GGO, it shows SAO as mostly a flashback and only put a small portion of ALO in it.
I'll just brief this out. The first episode started out with everyone talking, nothing in particular interesting, just the intro to the antagonist. The second episode introduced Sinon. Third one, shows Shino and her friend Kyouji, mainly tells the story of Shino's past. Kirito's so-called 'female' avatar is finally shown on episode four, a lot of people was so excited about the season two because of how Kirito's avatar in GGO being a 'trap', which was finally mentioned in episode five that the gender is actually a male. Anyway, episode four is mainly about the intro to GGO, or Sinon showing off her gun knowledge in the game, being Kirito's tour guide. Kirito mentioned that he's going to let Sinon thinks he's a girl for a while, but of course that lasts for only that episode, busted in episode five, Sinon turned mad on him and be all tsundere. Episode five also shows Kyouji in the game, and Kirito's first battle, at the end of the episode, he already met Death Gun, and saw the Laughing Coffin logo on his right wrist. On episode six shows a little flashback from SAO, also the battle of Kirito vs Sinon.
Here is my problem with the anime so far, when it first started, it's goddamn slow. Even I got tired of the talking, episode two got nothing on me much, sure they showed Sinon's battle and the intro to the character, showing her skills and all, but that's just pretty much about it. The anime doesn't show much (yet) of the GGO world, but it does sort of reminds me a lot of Gunslinger from Ragnarok Online and their place; Einbroch. As if every shooting MMORPG (or in this case, VRMMO) has to have that setting where the world isn't that bright, the place has to be all gloomy without showing lights, dark clouds all day.
The anime is somewhat predictable, I already speculated that Death Gun is probably associated with Kyouji, which is true because the player, Shoichi, is Kyouji's brother. When the anime got into episode four, suddenly everything seemed to move too fast, Kirito met with Sinon too soon, as if the capacity of the game is too small, or that they're just too lazy to create more characters like they did in SAO.
Kirito became an instant pro in GGO, probably because of the account transfer but look at it this way, you're trying to find an enemy in the game, but you don't know who he/she is, you transfer account so you don't have to waste time trying to level up and find your enemy but risking your identity, Sterben (Death Gun) has already recognized him in episode five while Kirito's trying so hard to think in episode six figuring out who is he. Kirito be like "Yeah sure I'll risk myself finding a criminal in the game who's been shooting people dead virtually, sure let him know Kirito's in GGO, bitch!" without having to think that Death Gun might be someone he knows, without thinking the factor of risking his identity will bring him death, well accepting the job is already asking for it though, sure move to GGO and leave your girlfriend behind without telling her, what if you end up like the other victims, huh? I always imagined how Asuna found out about it and went to GGO to chase Kirito, which will be pretty funny.
Kirito in GGO is like being impatient to find Death Gun, which he did found him anyway in episode five (or the other way round), without giving much fuck about the game itself, yeah use a goddamn lightsaber (photon sword) in a game where the gun is suppose to be the main weapon.
Dude he even won against Sinon, which is somewhat ridiculous because Sinon had a lot of chance to win against him, as if her feeling and being all anxious is what makes her lose, she's not focusing, which is also funny because she takes the game too seriously, but she fucked up, she has been in GGO longer than Kirito has but hey the newbie beat the pro, now where do you hide that face? Instead of actually killing him she went into a conversation instead and let go all of her chances.
I am still trying to brain this anime, though I do admit that I'm trying to keep up on it because of how predictable the anime is, it's become one of those easy anime to watch, you don't hope too much because you're most probably know what's gonna go on next after all, that has become one of the factor you're gonna watch it for the laughs.
I don't hate this anime, I just think that it has a lot to improve, the logic is just pure anime logic, I was expecting more of season two but I am still not impressed yet so far, that's my personal thoughts on it so far. And of course, unnecessary fan service is always in this anime but not like I care anyway. I will see how much this anime will entertain me.
I'm looking forward to the next episodes of course even though the internet has already spoiled the story according to the novel. I wonder if the next episodes will surprise me because six episodes of it has left me disappointed, not getting my hopes up at all since even the first season was just meh to me. Sure it's not that easy to find a good anime that's based on a online virtual game concept.
Ah, the thing I liked about the anime though, I find myself liking the OP, looking forward to the full release of the song. And of course, guns.
