    Hello again, Users!

Due to the school/college season picking up again, we, that is Warlock, me and the rest of staff, would like to add an as of yet undecided amount (likely 2 or 3) of dedicated moderators to the team, to strengthen the community.

Please be aware that being a CL Moderator doesn't just consist of having a shiny Mod-Badge on your profiles, but actually requires a decent amount of time and dedication, as well as being able to stomach potential drama, and to put your foot down if need be.

Please send your applications, including your personal answers to the below questionaire, to DarkChaplain or Warlock via PM.

    Questions:

    1. Why would you like to be a CL Moderator?
    2. What do you think you can bring to the site as a moderator?
    3. What do you do in your free time, apart from posting on CL?
    4. Does your schedule allow you to dedicate adequate time to moderating the site?
    5. Which project-related content are you interested in organizing and participating in?
    6. If you could change one thing about CL, what would it be?
    7. How old are you?
    8. What is your current/future country of residence/timezone?
    9. What is your Skype username? (Staff discusses things in a Skype group)

Please keep your answers formal (if possible), and don't be afraid to elaborate! The better we know you and your situation, as well as your motivations and goals for the site, the easier it will be for us to consider you as a candidate.

We will be looking through all applications that land in our PM boxes, and discuss your answers, your site presence, your general behavior and respectability with the other moderators.

The Application Window will be open until Friday, September 5.

This should give everybody interested ample opportunity to consider the job and type out their applications to the best of their ability. Staff will hopefully be able to sort through and discuss your applications in the following week or two, and the administration will announce our picks afterwards.

Good luck and keep 'em coming!

    FAQ:

Q: I haven't been on CL for all that long. May I apply anyway?

    A: Yes.
While we certainly have it easier judging the capabilities of older users who have been here a long time, newer users are free to apply as well. Depending on how much time you spend on the site, and your contributions so far, you may even make the cut.
We value contributions and activity over signup dates!

Q: Do I need coding experience to become a moderator?

    A: No.
There are plenty mods who have no idea about coding. It is not required, though helpful to have.

Note: I'm going to remove @Kirn's and @Kip's posts.

Please keep the topic clean of arguments or fake/joke applications. They don't belong here.
Instead, feel free to offer tips to potential candidates, and discuss in a constructive manner that may help improve the site.

Any further joke applications will also be removed or edited out, if the rest of the post is sensible enough.

I just hope that any new Mods can help this community grow to an even better state, and learn from any past Mods.

Also, glad to see you guys think of something like this. It wouldn't of crossed my mind until was too late.

Good luck applicants and I hope the right people are chosen.

Ah, the applications have opened again. Good luck to everyone who's applying! I hope that you can get the opportunity to continue contributing to CL, but in a different way. I also hope staff will get the moderators they need to keep this place running smoothly as usual. :)

Screw it, I'll do it! Problem is, I have 0 experience, my ideas easilly backfire, and unless you get to know me... I'm basically a bland piece of crap! Although the only up side is my usual availability...(is that even a word?). So yeah, vote for me, if you have no idea what you're doing, same as me! Oh, also, if someone wants to join me, I sugest you don't be lazy and go ahead and try, I mean, this is an official entry, if you ask me to answer the quiz there I'll do it. Just hope someone else will try it out!

Look, I'm not saying it to be rude or mean, but your "application" basically consists of you putting yourself down, then putting down anyone that actually considers you a viable choice for the position.

1.) You didn't read the 1st post, if you read it you'd know that those questions were the application and you had to answer them and send them to admins to be considered.
So your application is already off to a bad start.

2.) Saying your ideas always backfire basically tells people you're unreliable and can't do damage control when things backfire. Not good for a position where you have to do damage control and staving off potential drama.

3.) Yes, availability is a word.

4.) Saying you have no idea what you're doing, and anyone that votes for you does as well is basically an double insult to you and anyone that supports you. So, if you don't have any idea why you're doing it? Why should anyone consider you? You say you have no idea what you're doing, so then why should anyone vote somebody with no idea what they're doing?
It makes you sound flaky and wishy-washy, not saying you are but that is the impression you've given.

Oh, not being rude at all, I was actually just trying to make the whole thread environment more familiar, maybe encouraging aplicants to talk about themselves, you know, for us to know who could be in the position of mod. Oh, and I already sent a more detailed application to DC, with the whole quiz answers and everything. And besides, I know what I wrote there, truth is, I'm not the perfect candidate, pfft, far from it, I might even be the worst, but, hey, I just didn't see any wrong with posting something about it.

P.S. Thanks with the availability thing, I've been trying to find out if it was a word or not, it was killing me.

Not the point of this thread. It is an info thread with the details, not one where you are supposed to apply on. Applications happen off the forum, via PMs.

    Besides:

Please keep the topic clean of arguments or fake/joke applications. They don't belong here. Instead, feel free to offer tips to potential candidates, and discuss in a constructive manner that may help improve the site.

You'd have seen that post up there, had you bothered to read the thread.

Oh, and I already sent a more detailed application to DC, with the whole quiz answers and everything. And besides, I know what I wrote there, truth is, I'm not the perfect candidate, pfft, far from it, I might even be the worst,

Yeah, your application is pretty horrible, from format over introduction to the very end. And yes, you were right in your app, you did come across as a douchebag, and I'm glad @Kittycat set you right, and made you read the thread.

but, hey, I just didn't see any wrong with posting something about it.

It was not the thread's purpose, is distracting and irrelevant. If you can't even follow a few simple instructions, I don't think you'd make a good moderator anywhere. Follow procedure instead of goofing around.

    Also, re: your application:

but what I would like to say is that, you should really consider a mod that is really known to the other users, it's better to have someone who can get involved with them to be a mod, than some person working in the shadows not really telling anyone about it

That's what we're doing. We're carefully considering user relations, activity and presence. I'm afraid you don't have much to show in either of those areas.

There were some great apps this time around. Good luck to those who applied. We'll be reviewing them carefully as we make our decisions.

    Application Window CLOSED!

I'll lock the thread now. You'll hear of the results soon. Thanks to everybody who applied in a serious manner, and thanks for the chuckles we got out of the joke applications.

I hope the "fixed" donation counter pleases you : P
