Damn, I just made a thread about it.... I guess ill just copy my post here below.

Here are some things about the surface on their site:

    http://www.microsoft.com/global/surface/en/us/publishingimages/new/gallery_1_large.jpg

Surface has a 10.6", 16:9 widescreen HD Display. Microsoft's ClearType HD Display technology delivers a great picture for movies. An ultra-wide viewing angle makes it easy for your friends to share in the vibrant experience. The auto-adjusting screen intensity delivers great visual clarity, indoors and out. The addition of the Micro SD card slot means you can bring your entire movie and music collection with you on vacation.

Some activities call for a keyboard. Surface comes with an integrated Kickstand and a revolutionary, 3mm thin, pressure sensitive cover that doubles as a fully functioning keyboard and trackpad. Your Touch Cover connects to your Surface with a single magnetic click. Now you can chat with friends and respond to emails comfortably.

I personally quite like the Surface, since one of the main turn off for me getting an tablet is the idea of an on-screen keyboard. Their thin keyboard + touch pad seems really appealing. Along with a USB port on the tablet, their is a possibility of playing PC games on a tablet.

Some things which I fear about it, is that there will not be many 'apps' on the Surface at first, particularly if it does not sell well. This will mean that there will not be as functions provided by the apps since there will not be many of them. I hope this tablet will be low cost, welcoming students and classes of lower income to buy it, since it does have Office which will be handy for student. Something I personally don't like is the design of the actual tablet, while the keyboard + track pad is very slick, the actual tablet seems quite bulky.

I hope I get to see this tablet on the stores once its finished and try it out personally.

What do you think of the Surface? What things do you like or dislike about it? Will you consider buying it? How do you think this will rival with the iPad?

Blew my mind when they were like (and I'm paraphrasing here)... "We tested the sound the keyboard makes when you attach it in our acoustics chamber ... to make sure it actually sounded good."

SERIOUSLY WHO DOES THAT?! THAT'S CRAZY!

    Nice job MS.

Their site for the tablet, here . The advert on there for it is pretty sweet, dislike the dubstep though.

OTT how do I link a link in markdown syntax?

@DarkChaplain Do you think Surface will be a competition to the iPad, or does Apple have a new device up their sleeve to release once they get competition? Also what do you think of the possibility of PC gaming on the tablet since it does have keyboard + USB port (for mouse?) ?

I think this could very well retrace the lines between Apple and PC that have already been drawn, in the sense that with support for Office...and just the fact that it's Windows... this tablet could become very popular with businesses.

Yeah that advert was pretty sweet.

Magnesium case? It's been a while since physics, but isn't mg too high up in the periodic table to use for a case? Guess it's an alloy.

I think the tablet looks great anyway. Might have to get it so I can program on the move =D

Suck it Apple, suck it hard.

@DarkChaplain Well of course, it is a tablet still, I'm pretty sure it can run basic indie games, I'm not expecting to play games like LoL on it. Ahaha, oh shit imagine that. JUST IMAGINE IT FOR A MINUTE.

Cool and I assume I'll be able to run Netbeans and WAMP no problem on it. Might have to get it as a 'work device'.

Just watched the video, fell in love with the design of the surface. I actually like the design of it now, very logical. Love the pen as well, will have fun trying to draw on that thing maybe. I hope it comes out soon. Oh also loved the venting of it, fits well with the design!

Slightly disappointed after watching the video that the touch pad wont be easy for you to touch type on it though, I guess I will just have to wait to try it myself.
