Wow sorry this is like 2 minutes before the deadline I think!!!!!! ps @Noodle I really really liked your amv omg

    EMIYA by @break: (25/40)

    1. Synchronization(3/10): The music had ups and downs, while the video just seemed to stay the same all along. There were a few times that the music had a pause or a moment were it hit a climax, and it really matched up with the events in the video, but overall, it just seemed like a song played along with a unchanging scenes. The beginning, though, was good, with the alternating shots of the character and words showing.

    2. Rendering(7/10): This was done well, as the video was consistently smooth and not distorted the whole way through, but the video could have been larger, seeing as there was that huge black border around the entire video

    3. The Representation(8/10): I’m not familiar with Fate/Stay Night, so I’m not really sure who the characters are, but it seemed to really focus on the white-haired dude, which was good.

    4. Originality(7/10): It seemed like a generic battle-scene-put-to-music-amv, but it started off creatively, with the words and what looks like the aftermath of the batte (?), and then leading into the battle itself.

    Mi-oh! by @kosukechan (33/40)

    1. Synchronization(8/10): The video matched up very well with the music, but the parts where it sped up were kind of strange?? that wasn’t a huge problem though, so overall it was synched well.

    2. Rendering(8/10): It was very smooth all along, and the clips were of the same quality.

    3. The Representation(10/10): It focused solely on Mio, and her different emotions and actions, which was really good.

    4. Originality(7/10): I liked how, at the parts where the song seemed to speed up, they played their instruments, and then the end was really good, how you made it switch to the rest of the scene, with the original audio.

    Unknown World by Momimochi (34/40)

    1. Synchronization(9/10): This was really great at the beginning, because the words flashing matched well with the beat of the music, and then the scenes seemed to match well with the music.

    2. Rendering(7/10): The rendering seemed good, but the overall video quality was a little fuzzy most of the time.

    3. Theme Representation(10/10): It followed Araragi really well so yeah it represented the theme well.

    4. Originality(8/10): It seemed really original, with the song about walking paths or whatever and then he was walking paths????? omg and then the words of the songs generally seemed to fit with what was going on in the video and that seemed original since amvs are usually weird random scenes put together.

The problem with this was that the speaking-part did not fit well where you put it in the song, and the the song just cut off randomly at the end. I wasn’t sure where to say this, or even if it’s something points can be taken off for, so I didn’t take any off for this.

Sail Through The Heavens by @Noodle (37/40)

    1. Synchronization(10/10): The video and music matched up really well, especially when it said “baby” and you made it look like Simon said it. It was also good how you flashed between different shots to fit with the beat.

    2. Rendering(8/10): The beginning was really bad and blurry, as were the high-speed parts. The rest of the video, however, was very consistent in the quality.

    3. Theme Representation(10/10): This was excellent, and it really focused on portraying Simon’s different emotions and the things he went through throughout Gurren Lagann, without really paying too much attention to other characters.

    4. Originality(9/10): This video really focused on Simon and everything he went through, and struggled to accomplish, which was really good I guess?? And then the part where Simon was pushed down and then pictures of Kamina and bad things flashed by was really great.

    Spike's last ride by @Rommel175 (30/40)

    1. Synchronization(5/10): The scenes didn't really match up with the music at all.

    2. Rendering(7/10): Some of the clips were really fuzzy, but none were distorted.

    3. Theme Representation(9/10): This was good, it really focused on Spike the entire time.

    4. Originality(9/10): It was really nice how you started it off with Spike getting into his plane thing I forgot what it was called. But anyways it was cool how it started off with a scene and then went into music. Also, I liked how it kind of showed flashes of the past while Spike was falling, that seemed pretty original.

    Announcement

Greetings to all participants and watchers of this contest! As we have reached the end of the third round, it is also time to introduce the content of the fourth one!

First off, the three winners of the recent round will be revealed, followed by informing them of the prize distribution methods that will enable them in redeeming their well-deserved awards for their undeniable efforts and perseverance.

Afterwards, additional information, such as the theme, rule changes and a deadline suggestion for Round 4 will be introduced. Furthermore, registrations are also now officially open!

    The Winners of Round 3!

We have a tie! After compiling all of the judges' evaluations, the conclusion that has been drawn is that we have two participants classified for first place!

    Second Place: Mi-oh! by @kosukechan (5 Votes)

    • Watch on
    ">Vimeo!
  3. First Place: Unknown World by @Momimochi and Sail Through the Heavens by @Noodle (6 Votes Each)

I would love to warmly congratulate all winners and all participants of this round, not only for submitting fantastic entries, but also for being interested in this long-term project. You have all done your best, which is easily seen by the quality and originality of your AMVs! Cheers to the pleasure of maybe being able to work together again, in the future. <3

    Prize Modifications

As a result, an extra $10 USD has been added and the prizes have been reorganized. The new amounts for J-List Gift Certificates are as follow:

    • $50 for First Place
    • $30 for Second Place

While these prizes are obviously less than expected, both that were expected for first and second place($60 and $40) have been reduced by $10 each in order to have a fair and proportional distribution.

    Precisions for the Winners

This section is directed at @Momimochi, @Noodle and @kosukechan.

In order to be able to receive your well-deserved J-List gift certificates, you will need to supply a valid email address to which they will be sent. For security purposes, it would be preferable if they were sent to me by private message.

As for the expected time of reception of the prize, expect for it to take approximately from seven to fourteen business days(at the latest).

Furthermore, it is also highly recommended for you to check your spam folder, before reporting that you did not receive your prize.

Congratulations again to you three, and happy shopping! ;]

    Special Thanks

The Judge Panel has proved itself to give valid results, once again. Based on technical and artistic criteria, the judges have done a remarkable job at evaluating all entries, based on their personal visions of an ideal anime music video.

In spite of this, all judges have my sincere gratitude for giving their greatest efforts at yet another round! As it was also mentioned in the past, it would be a pleasure to have you all back, for the fourth round. <3

As a result, as soon as they are ready, Participation Badges will be distributed to both editors and judges of Round 3, in order to commemorate all their time and energy spent on this contest. Winners are also expected to receive these badges, as they will be distributed and named according to each contestant's resulting rank in the competition.

Please rest assured that I will be updating this thread with any information related to the finalization of the badges, as soon as more specifications are communicated to me. ;>

    Beginning of Round 4

Now that the third round has reached an appropriate ending, it is finally time to wrap things up and move onto the next round! Five themes, such as Love(General), Forbidden Love, the Sidekick, the Flashback and the Idiot Hero, have been proposed, but only one of these has been picked out of my hat:

    http://i.imgur.com/q3Gqu.jpg

Forbidden Love: This choice is simply considered as a sub-category of love, in its many forms. While this theme does include a romantic aspect, it can also be applied to friendships as well. Its main focus is the idea of a taboo relationship. Perfect examples are incest and relationships between adults and minors. One may also freely add homosexual couples to this theme, since it is still a very debated subject, even up to this day. Of course, in what concerns forbidden friendships, many focus possibilities exist, amongst these are rival families, prejudice and bad influences. For more information concerning the friendship aspect, here is a very useful link supplied by @InsaneBoredGame. Please keep in mind that the content of the AMVs must remain of a safe-for-work level and that it can be ecchi, at most. Of course, editors are welcome to censor some scenes themselves, with the help of video-editing software.

Also, when looking over the video editors' past availabilities for this project, I have come to the conclusion that an editing time of approximately 2-3 months is generally ideal. Once again, a test deadline will be proposed: Friday, July 27th. And of course, since this deadline is nothing more than a proposal, it is free to be adapted, and changed, to any of the participants' schedules.

    Prizes of Round 4

Based on the global approval and positive feedback of the prizes proposed for the third round, the resulting awards will remain the same:

    1. First Place: $60
    2. Second Place: $40
    3. Third Place: $20

Again, prizes may vary at every round. The best prediction I can give is that the sum of every rank's value shouldn't result in anything under $100. It is also important to note that the gift certificates are given in the form of American Dollars(USD) which is the same conversion used for the prices shown on the J-List website.

Furthermore, as this is the third time where this contest features prize distributions, this award system is still very young and obviously open to suggestions. Please do not hesitate to share ideas about how prizes can be reorganized in a far better distribution.

Of course, @VivoDePyre's suggestion from last round still stands. If rounds feature more than an expected number of submissions, prizes, as well as the number of winners, will be redesigned to a proportional and much more fair system.

    Expected Judging Criteria

All criteria will remain the same as in the last round, with small precision changes made to only the Theme Representation category.

    1. Synchronization(/10): The grade is given based on the editor's ability to have properly timed the audio track with the events in the video.

    2. Rendering(/10): This is somewhat like evaluating the overall quality of the AMV, but by only considering the final scaling. As an example, if the frames appear stretched or if the resolution changes from one scene to another, points will be removed.

    3. Theme Representation(/10): A forbidden love is the objective of this round. Evaluations will be based on how well it is clearly shown that the general relationship between the individuals cannot be. Are they related, as in, from the same family? Is one the student and the other his/her teacher? Are they of the same gender or from rival families? It is also important to keep in mind that the taboo must be felt, even by those who have not watched the selected series.

    4. Originality(/10): As the title says it, this category gives freedom to the evaluators, in what concerns their views on the originality of an AMV. Points will mostly be given out, based on never-before-seen content.

This about summarizes the entire content of both the third and fourth rounds. If I have forgotten to mention anything or if questions arise, please do not hesitate to share your thoughts by replying to this post! ;3

    Boku no Pico

That is an absolute must! A very tempting AMV idea indeed... :'D

Edit: @InsaneBoredGame Your question raises a very good point. Since love exists in oh so many forms, yes, forbidden friendships can be added to this theme, without any problem. The following is a modification to the theme description, according to these new additions.

Forbidden Love: This choice is simply considered as a sub-category of love, in its many forms. While this theme does include a romantic aspect, it can also be applied to friendships as well. Its main focus is the idea of a taboo relationship. Perfect examples are incest and relationships between adults and minors. hm, im not sure if i have any ideas for that theme.. ill look into it though. is it okay if its one-sided forbidden love?

  • #263912012-05-18 16:22:47n1xx said:

@break Of course, one-sided forbidden love can also work. As long as we are able to see in what way that love is taboo, it is an acceptable submission. ;]

@n1xx i feel tempted to use Aquarion Evol just for the narminess o romatnic love beeign generally forbidden there beause it drives the titular mecha berserk xD just becuase Fudo is extremely epic. @Momimochi though im sa di didnt win anything, i think you deserved the 1st price^^ very good araragi tribute, the only two points i dont like are 1. im generally nto a fan of dialogue from the video interferign with the song and 2. it ends a little abruptly^^ @Noodle unforutnately i cant watch your video cuz its blocked in germany.

  • #264282012-05-18 20:31:11break said:

@Noodle thanks^^ i tired it. i like the AMV; people usually use mroe hot-blooded songs for gurren lagann amv's, so this was anice change of pace and somehow it awakened a certain kidn of mood, dunno hpw to explain, but it was quite unique.

  • #264362012-05-18 22:34:51n1xx said:

@kosukechan and @Noodle I confirm both of your registrations for the fourth round~!

    @break

it drives the titular mecha berserk

That, in itself, is a very original outcome for this round's theme. I can already foresee you getting the majority of points for the originality section of the evaluations. :D It is a rare combination indeed!

@break I would have continued it to the end if sony vegas hadn't decided to screw with me by shutting down the project everytime something over 150-200Mb was imported.

@Everyone & @Judges I did not expect to be one of the first place(s) as this is my first and foremost AMV that I actually tried to do. The rest (lol2videos) were all slideshows and this DRRR op thing. So thanks, I guess. :'D

  • #264452012-05-18 23:40:47break said:

@n1xx haha yeah^^i cna recommend the show btw. it doesnt make sense at all, but its somehow very very entertaining. alos, as i know oyu im pretty sure oyur gonna fall for jin, lol. ah, let me show it to oyu. this scene cracked me up so much. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g295/Myujin/17/Aquarion1250.jpg it then proceeds to punch through time. somehow. just because. @Momimochi ah i know your pain; i originally wanted to use sony vegas for this round too but my free cersion had expired, and i coudlnt figure out how to get around the activation code so i did it with movie maker isntead. which resulte in those black bars everyone mentioend and cost me so many points.. somehow movie maker does that automatically. @n1xx posted a link to a tutorial on hwo to make it stp doing that after i posted it and we talked abotu that, but there wasnt enough time left at that point...

  • #264792012-05-19 07:55:41break said:

@Momimochi ah, i tried that too but it didnt work properly for me... the whole code-crack whatever didnt work properly. woudl you mind telling me how exactly to get that done? xD
