Persona 4 takes place in a rural town named Inaba. There have been mysterious murders occurring whenever there was fog after heavy rain. There were also rumors about a channel on television airing only at midnight called Mayonaka TV, during which it is said that one can see his/her "other half" when staring at the TV screen. After hearing about a recent unsolved murder which occurred during the fog, the characters—Narukami, Chie, and Yosuke—discuss how each of them had attempted to watch the mysterious TV channel and witnessed the murder victim. The protagonist later realizes that during midnight when the channel is on, his body can phase into his television set as a gateway to enter another world infested with shadows. After discovering this, they all decide to explore. When first completely entering the world, dazed and confused, Narukami meets Teddie. Mayonaka TV and the town murders seem to have a connection. The murder victims may be merely victims of Mayonaka TV. Everyone decides that they will together try to solve the mysterious murders by exploring the hidden world of Mayonaka TV.

Personally while I'm a bit disappointed at the animation quality, I love how the studio is able to replicate the game closely while adding the additional enhancements to make it feel unique. There's a tonnes of love from the team.

And omg, EP12, that Reincarnation track is used.

I'm actually enjoying it so far, references the game like the states of Narumi changing every episode and even the day change.

Not to forget the legendary beef bowl :3

The soundtrack is pretty awesome with some additional tracks not in the game.

I was surprised when the reincarnation mix for I'll Face Myself was used XD

the only thing i was disappointed at was the fight against rise because it was so short.. and tdddie's berserking seeems a lOT more derpy in anime-form than it did in the game.. however thats not the fault of the animators, its jusrt that the scene itself is a little derpy but works in the game. just like the long discussions with every boss and the repetetiveness of those work way better in thegame because they dotn feel a sunnatural in actual action; and, of course, because in thegame, you have so much stuff to do in-between and there actually passes more time between the story-events. in the anime, they of course cant just have the characters walk around in the dungeons fighting shadows all the time or delay the showdowns , so its becoem kidna unavooidable; that way, it doesnt feel a sif much time passes between the incidents at all tho...(though tahst oen thign i really dotn like, the normal shadows all seem liek incredibly small fishes in the naime; sure if youre quipped with the right persona and know their weaknesses they are small fishes, but before that there was always aphase were they gave you good fights until you find out their weaknesses, at leats if your nto over-leveled.. taht is an issue they coudlve goen aroudn with by at least including the mid-bosses in the dungeons. but oh well.)

@break u might have something there!! i could picture the bad ending happening then the MC waking up and it was all a dream P.S.crosses fingers that there could be a slight chance of drama CD adaptions to animate

@9mm depends really, on if oyur a fan of the game or not. frankly, some of the thigns they have taken over from the game are incredibly derpy in animated form, like the speeches of every character taht get so much mor ederpy when they all get close-up shots during that, or tedie's berserkign which also was a lot weirder in animated form than it was in the game. if oyur a fan fo the game, that trueness to the game is a kind of fanservice; if oyuve only watched the naime, it is of course only derpy.

ah i hope it sels so well that they consider animating persona 2 or 3 too... the stories in them are so much better than in 4, tho 4 might have some generally more likeable characters... 4 had better gameplay then 3 too, but 4's story just gets so.. CHEESY at times because everyone keeps holding speeches before every fight that even a generic shounen anime wouldnt use THAT often..

@animeftw ah, interesting. care to tell more? there are 2 thigns that mad ee not paly it too: 1. its old and hard to get, andim currently trieng to get another less old and hard to get but still old and hard to get game, shadow hearts 1. if oyu have it tell me if oyu wanna sell it, btw. 2. the weird "japan-censorship" that was done with the 1st persona, you know for some weird reason renaimg all places to fictional ones and recoloring a japanese punk into a black dude. the unnecessariness of that kida weirds me out.
