  • In IRL Picture Thread

Because I didn't look as terrible as usual today.

(I hijacked my roommate's room for the first one, since the lighting is better there than in mine.)

  • In CL Short Story Project 6: Love and War

I've got the basic structure of my story worked out and am in the process of padding it out with character-building aspects. I haven't started the writing yet; I like to plan quite thoroughly before I actually get down to it.

  • In Pigboss Question #N

Yeah, figured as much; 'swhy I didn't bother to post how I'd gotten it.

  • In Pigboss Question #N

Managed to get .592 - holding out hope it was a typo. XP If not, back to the drawing board.

  • In What Do You Define Yourself As? [Poll]

I can relate to most of them, though in terms of outward behaviour, I'm far more in line with the optimist/idealist side of the spectrum.

Really, though, I'm a nihilist and a formalist. In the end, I don't make a big fuss about practical matters, not because I'm optimistic about them, but because I just kind of forget to worry about them while I drift around thinking about other things. I'm the guy who, if asked whether the glass is half-full or half-empty, feels compelled to point out that if it's one, it's necessarily the other as well. Technically right, but missing the original point entirely, because I focus more on how the situation is structured than the actual topic.

@--Jack-- , confirming my participation; I struck a pretty good idea at work last night, so count me in.

  • In Artists of Colorless

Because I've been told to share, here's a selection of some of my favorite pictures from when I used to draw.

  • In CL Short Story Project 6: Love and War

My participation is contingent on whether or not I can come up with any interesting story ideas. If anything comes to mind, I'll let you know. Whether I write or not, though, I'm more than willing to offer feedback on everyone else's stories.

  • In Was/Is College Worth it?

Speaking for myself, I went to college and got nothing out of it financially, but have never regretted it for a second. School is something that I enjoy and am good at, and going to uni allowed me to spend seven years doing something I've always been passionate about (literature) and discovering entirely new things that I've developed a keen interest in (linguistics and philosophy). My course was supposed to be four years, but I spent an extra three at it because there were just so many electives that looked fun.

My advice is that it all comes down to whether or not you want to. As far as I'm concerned, if you have something that you love to do that you can study in post-secondary, and you won't beggar yourself in the process, then definitely do it. It's a great feeling being able to immerse yourself in not only the activity itself, but in an entire environment wholly dedicated to that activity. Whether or not it's worth it is by no means a purely financial question.

  • In Duck Game (a game you should play)

I play this with my roommates, among other short-session local multiplayer games. It's a blast.
