Gargron
99th percentile

Founder of the Colorless

Web developer && Computer Science student

I'm the guy who created the Durarara-eque chat back in March 2010 and later developed the message board and other modules of the site. I refactored the code about 4 times with significant visual and functional changes. I am satisfied with the outcome and as such no longer developing it. I am also no longer the administrator of the site, for that, see @Warlock.

I like tea and calculating statistics. I am a big fan of the scientific method, and as such, an atheist. My Internet identity has its roots in the so-called aniblogosphere, but I am not interested in Japanese animation anymore.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Testing.

  • In NSA/PRISM: US collecting data from Google, Skype, &co

@DarkChaplain Linux now supports more hardware than OSX. There are lots of beginner-friendly Windows-esque distributives, Steam for Linux is in beta, some indie games already play on it out of the box and run smooth!

But if we're talking about the average Joe, the average Joe doesn't give a shit about privacy or civil liberties.

  • In WE ARE THE 1%

@Maudia Hover the percentile and it'll say the exact number. To get to the 0.x number you have to do 100 - that exact number.

  • In WE ARE THE 1%

If I actually run the rep.-giving algorithm on the oldCL posts, you bunch would quickly stop being 99th percentile. But I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle or a good idea altogether. It's just that apparently, only 6k people have any reputation, and out of them, about 4.5k have less reputation than what you get when you make a simple post. So basically if you're active, you're right at the top.

@DarkChaplain Many have made the switch on some things, but e.g. for social networks, the people factor is more important than the privacy factor to most (i.e. "all my friends are on network x, so i have no choice but to use it too")

@Noodle I wonder if the guy's gonna get turned into a giant rat by the gods like in the old story that Bran told. (Probably not)

  • In Ask CL: Would you want the Colorless to move out of the US legally?

OK, I guess the responses tend to bend towards "don't bother with it." I'll leave the thread up though.

    I don't understand
